Primary muscle

Glutes

Secondary

Hamstrings, core

How to do it

Lie on your back, knees bent, heels close to the hips. Drive through your heels and lift the hips — a straight line from shoulders to knees. Squeeze the glutes at the top, lower slowly.

Common mistake

Arching the lower back (back works, not glutes); knees caving in; dropping fast.

Alternative

Single-leg (harder) · hip thrust
